From Pieces to Weight: Response

50 is really setting himself up to get in a lot of trouble as a twelve year old. No only by the Police but also anybody that he sells to or buy's from. While reading him talk about how easy it is and for him to bring in five-hundred dollars a week he makes it sound like a regular job for anybody in South Queens. I know that if this happened in small town Grundy Center, everyone would know about it.

From Pieces to Wieght: Ch. 6

He gets hooked up with this guy named Carlos who sells him a full brick of coke for a good price. Brian teaches him how to cook the coke . So 50 is bringing in more sales than ever and is supplying other dealers with coke. He gets into it with one of his buyers named chance and so he acts like he's going to shoot him if he doesn't stop complaining about what he got. After that he talks to Brian about what happened and Brian tells him he can't show weakness and be a push over. When he gets home he sees his Uncle Star coming out of his room from his shoe box where he hides his coke. He gets into a huge fight and beats Star who is high on coke, then runs to pay off Carlos for some more coke.

From Pieces to Wieght: Ch. 5

50 doesn't want to go to church when he is told to. His grandma and him get into an arguement. Grandpa steps in and says that he doesn't have to go if he can read the bible and talk to God at home.

From Pieces to Wieght: Ch. 4

So he's out selling crack bringing in about five-hundred dollars a week. One day he's out hustling when his uncle Brian comes up in a decked out Nissan Maxima and asks him to jump in. He doesn't really want to but does. Brian says he knows what 50 is doing but 50 wont admit to it. Finally Brian says that he's noticed 50 $200 outfits and knows that grandma hasn't had a raise or a new job but also tells 50 that if he spends one dollar to save four more or he won't be making it big.

From Pieces to Weight: Response

This kid that is brought up in a crime area has a lot of tough choices to make at a very young age. His mother is alive for a little part of the book so far but he looked up to her. He also knew that whenever he saw her she would either get him a nice gift or even just cash. When his uncles( who are not much older than him) go and tell him to pick up some fat alberts from a guy and bring them back, thats not easy to say yea sure i can do that. Right now in the story he is doing the selling and making good money for it. All his childhood he has noticed all these big time drug dealers getting "it" driving around in their marcedes benz and nice shoes and jewelry. He wanted to get "it".

From Pieces to Weight: Ch. 3

He is getting told by his uncle Sincere about these two men named Mel and Jack that are going around robbing and killing anybody that has something worth taking. He asks for a new pair of shoes and instead of Sincere buying them like he usually does, he gives him about five fat alberts which are coke rocks that are sold for twenty to twenty five dollars. This is his first drug transaction that he has ever done. He ends up getting more an more coke rocks to sell because as a twelve year kid it is god money. When he starts out he goes from being able to buy stuff and convienence store and at fast food places, to buying new shoes and shirts, to buying gameboyys, which he thought was pointless because he was to busy with school then hustling that he wouldn'thave time to play it.

From Pieces to Weight: Ch. 2

His mom dies but it doesn't really mention how but its drug related. His attitude takes a complete 180 towards life. He had to be put on riddlin because he couldn't act like a normal kid. He saw things differently because he knew if his mom were still here he wouldn't be getting picked on by his aunts and uncle and stuff just wouldn't happen. He ended up getting a Dovermen Pinscher named Dillinger. It was his best friend. He accsed Cynthia for killing it with rat poison. Then it talks about how at one party that his uncle's had at their house his uncle had to go to the ER because he got second degree burns on his hands and fore-amrs from dry ice.
