Characters

Henry Fleming-"The young solider" who fights in the american civil war on the union side. In the begining of his experience he is very questiony about his courage and just kind of shys away from battle, but then towards the end of the book he stands up and fights with courage and dominates.
Jim Conklin- is Henry's fried but also referred to "The tall solider." Jim dies early in the book from his wounds.
Wilson-Alos one of Henry's friends but also known as "The loud solider." Wilson and Henry get to be really great friends in this book, because they are experiencing the same things and are looking out for each other.
The tattered man- this is a solider who was shot twice that Henry encounters and ends up ditching him because he gets annoyed.
Lieutenant- is Henry's commander while in battle.
Henry's mom-Though not mentioned a lot in the story, Henry's mother is a big reason why Henry is fighting so hard toward the end. She is a big motivation in Henry's life
